Reboxed Partners with Airtime to Launch Refurbished Store

Reboxed, a leader in the re-commerce sector, has partnered with Airtime, a UK-based platform that lets users earn rewards for everyday purchases to reduce their phone bills.

This collaboration marks the launch of Reboxed refurbished store within the Airtime  app, providing users with an easy and sustainable way to purchase high-quality refurbished devices.

Reboxed Circularity as a Service™ is designed to help retailers implement resale, trade-in, and recycling programmes with ease.

For those who aren’t familiar with Airtime - they have already partnered with over 200 of the nation’s favourite brands, allowing consumers to earn rewards when shopping with participating retailers.

By linking their debit or credit cards, users earn rewards on everyday purchases, which can then be redeemed against their mobile phone bill. Users can simply shop using their linked cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, and Airtime’s tech tracks and rewards their spend.

To date, Airtime members have saved over £50 million on their bills, offering a unique and effortless way to reduce mobile phone costs while promoting sustainability.

The partnership signals a broader shift in the industry, with retailers increasingly looking for sustainable and cost-effective ways to meet growing consumer demand for second-hand products.

The demand for refurbished devices has surged in recent years, driven by changing consumer preferences and the growing need for environmentally sustainable purchasing options.

According to GfK UK’s Tech360 survey, 25% of all mobile phones sold in the UK in 2023 were second-hand or refurbished, an increase from 19% in 2021. This rise in demand is particularly strong among Gen Z, with over 60% of the cohort reportedly opting for used products before buying new.

Reboxed Circularity as a Service™ is designed to help retailers and brands adopt circular economy principles, providing the infrastructure to offer resale and trade-in options that benefit both the business and the environment. By seamlessly integrating these solutions into their existing operations, retailers can help customer loyalty, save up to 50% on devices, and reduce their environmental impact.

Matt, Co-founder of Reboxed, said, “Retailers must rethink their approach to circularity. It’s no longer just about offering trade-in programs; it’s about embedding circularity throughout the business—from supply chains to customer service. Our partnership with Airtime is a perfect example of how businesses can align with the growing demand for sustainable products while boosting their bottom line.”

As Reboxed continues to lead the way in the recommerce sector, the partnership with Airtime highlights the growing importance of sustainability in the consumer tech market, demonstrating how businesses can meet consumer demand for second-hand products while contributing to the circular economy.

With plans to expand the offering and further integrate circularity into the retail experience, Reboxed and Airtime are working towards a future where second-hand tech is the first choice for all consumers. By providing a convenient and affordable way to purchase refurbished devices, the partnership is helping to pave the way for a more sustainable and circular economy.
